A round gilt bronze medal, the obverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Kaiser Franz Joseph, circumscribed by his name and title; the reverse inscribed Der Tapferkeit (German For Bravery), within a laurel wreath, marked bronze on edge, on a loop for suspension from a correct replacement ribbon, measuring 40. 29 mm in diameter; weighing 21. 3 grams without ribbon; in very fine condition.
