Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Minesweeper War Badge, Variant I, by Wilhelm Hobacher Republic of 6th of June(Kriegsabzeichen fr Minensuch, U Boot Jagd, und Sicherungsverbnde). Instituted August 31st, 1940. (Variant I mid to late war manufacture) Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse with an oval oak wreath and a central area depicting a sea mine exploding in wavy water, and a national eagle with open wings clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse plain, with a barrel hinge, a vertical banjo style pinback, and a flat wire catch on a small
