and as such he took part in the General Staff training excursion on October 23rd
circa 1915-18
Mitchell enlisted with the USAAF in September 1941
He was invalided to England aboard the Hospital Ship Dieppe and transferred to the Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre at Folkestone and subsequently admitted to East Leeds War Hospital

Footnote: Edward Fox Thairs was born in St. Catharines, Ontario on January 21, 1895, the son of Colonel George Thairs of Ridley College.
