Antique Japanese Taisho Era c 1920’s Keyaki Wood Haribako Tansu 11” Haori All hardware is hand forgedThis is an antique Japanese Taisho era (c. 1920's) sewing box with an arrangement of four exterior drawers. The lidded top section is divided into two areas. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. This haribako has keyaki (zelkova elm) burl wood exteriors and sugi (cryptomeria Japanese cedar) wood drawer interiors. Great skill was used in the
