Description
Although not from his WPA period this is a relatively early work and its appeal and ultimately its value is derived entirely from the subject
I was still working in comics but felt drawn to expand into portraiture
The day trippers in small craft jostling in amongst the barges at a country lock are reminiscent of many 20th century painters
Signed and dated 1915
the artist staring back rather hauntingly
We’re going to need a bigger cake reserved Although not from his WPAWide, dark stained solid wood frames, waxed and lightly distressed by hand, gold fillet & UV protective museum glass
