The length of the leash is important for the dog to explore the world stress free while walking it is both a way for his entertainment and a means to keep his mind sharp. A longer leash allows your pet to sniff around without pulling on the leash and inviting you into every interesting puddle. At the same time, with a strong leash, control is always in your hands to protect both your pet and others from unexpected encounters.
