Pair of Tall Antique Elm Armchairs bronzes The double glass panels fittedShanxi, circa 1860 These wonderful armchairs are from Shanxi province and have unusually high backs, giving them a very grand appearance. Made from elm and in their original finish, the dark lacquer has worn on the seats and footrest to show the paler, more natural colour of the wood. The long backrests are shaped in a shallow 'S' curve for comfort and are each carved through in a lovely design showing deer, representing longevity, set within trees
