Antique Japanese Meiji Era c 1920's Mulberry Wood Haribako Sewing Tansu 11.5" Garden Width = 12 3/8"This is a Taisho era (c1920's) Haribako (sewing box) with an arrangement of four exterior drawers. The lidded top section is divided into two areas. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. Width = 11. 5" (29cm) Depth = 7" (18cm) Height = 8. 5" (21. 5cm) This haribako has mulberry burls wood face with amazing grain and paulownia (kiri) wood drawer
