水墨画のように黒の濃淡で表現する染め方は、粋で個性的な印象に見せます。
楓は蛙の手のような形であることから、「かえるて」→「かえで」になったと言われています。季節によって色を変えることから「世渡り上手」「長寿」などの意味があります。
