Antique Japanese Taisho c1930 Sugi Wood Haribako Calligraphy Tansu 10" Snuff Bottle Custom sizes can be producedThis is an antique Taisho era (c. 1920's) sewing box with an arrangement of four exterior drawers. The lidded top section is divided into two areas. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. This haribako has keyaki wood exteriors and sugi (cryptomeria Japanese cedar) wood drawer interiors. Great skill was used in the workmanship in this chest. It is made
