Antique Japanese Meiji Era c1930 Mulberry Wood Haribako Sewing Tansu 10" Chobadansu Under this principal we hereThis is an early Showa vintage (c. 1930's) (sewing box) with an arrangement of three exterior drawers. The lidded top section is divided into two areas. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. This haribako has mulberry wood exteriors and paulownia (kiri) wood drawer interiors. Great skill was used in the workmanship in this chest. It is made with all
