Antique Japanese Meiji Era c 1920's Mulberry Wood Haribako Sewing Tansu Chobadansu It was likely made forThis is a Taisho era (c1920's) Haribako (sewing box) with an arrangement of 3 exterior drawers. The lidded top section is divided into two areas and when removed reveals a hidden drawer. This type of tansu chest was used to store valuables as well as equipment for the person of the house to do repairs on Kimono and bedding. Width = 11. 5" (29cm) Depth = 7" (18cm) Height = 8. 5" (21. 5cm) This haribako has mulberry burls wood face with amazing grain
